Since its founding in 1967, the American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry (ASAP) has served as a professional network for its members and a specialized community dedicated to advocacy for adolescent mental health, and the education and development of mental health professionals who serve adolescents and young adults. Membership is open to psychiatrists and other mental health professionals with an interest in adolescents and/or young adults.

Adolescent Psychiatry publishes reports of original research, critical reviews of topics relevant to practitioners, clinical observations with analysis and discussion, analysis of philosophical, ethical or social aspects of the fields of psychiatry and mental health, case reports with discussions, letters, and position papers.
